Howco Hires General Manager

Howco Hires General Manager, Promotes Veteran Employee and Expands Territory

CHARLOTTE (September 18, 2013) -- Howco Inc., a distributor of car wash equipment and supplies headquartered and founded here in 1969, has announced the hiring of John Gannon as General Manager. The move coincides with the promotion of long-time employee Rick Thompson to Vice President of Sales & Marketing and the company's expansion of its sales territory for Jim Coleman Company equipment.

"This is an exciting time for Howco," stated company CEO Chuck Howard, son of Howco founder, the late Charlie Howard. "To bring on a General Manager of John's caliber and experience while adding four states to our Jim Coleman territory is a significant milestone in our history. Moreover, Rick's expanded duties and focus will be vital to our development of the new Coleman territory. Each of these moves positions Howco solidly for continued growth in the car wash industry."

Gannon brings a plethora of experience to the Howco fold, including stints with Draeger Safety Products, Cooper Industries, Ingersoll Rand, Pella Corporation, and Albany International Corp., where he managed manufacturing plants in Georgia, France, Canada, and Brazil. Gannon most recently was the managing director for several small telecommunications companies based in South Carolina and Minnesota.

He received a BA from Wake Forest University in 1982 and a Masters of International Business from the University of South Carolina in 1984. He also completed two Leadership Development courses in postgraduate work.

"This is a thrilling opportunity for my family and me." said Gannon. "We are excited at the prospect of joining the Howco family with its legacy of excellence, and I look forward to the challenges that this opportunity presents. As such, I am certain that I will lean heavily upon the experience of the existing Howco team, and I solicit their support as we learn and work together. I even hope that we can have a little fun while we do it."

Howco's new Jim Coleman territory includes all or parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, DC, and now overlaps much of the territory already covered by Howco's Hanna Car Wash Systems representation in nine eastern states.

The Hanna and Coleman brands were born in the 1960s and emerged as two of the most significant car wash equipment companies. Hanna specializes in conveyor car wash equipment, while Coleman has been a stalwart in the self-service and in-bay automatic industry. The prominent brands were purchased in 2012 by car wash chemical veteran Ed O'Hanrahan. The new company, Coleman Hanna Car Wash Systems LLC, is led by O'Hanrahan and Russell Coleman.

Howco has been selling and servicing Hanna and Coleman equipment since 1969 and 1999, respectively.
